Dwight Howard Wants 2020 Lakers to Celebrate NBA Title With Vacation After LeBron James, Cavs Photos
Former NBA star Dwight Howard is looking to celebrate the Los Angeles Lakers' 2020 championship in the same way that LeBron James and his old teammates recently celebrated the Cleveland Cavaliers' 2016 title.
"We need to do a 2020 lakers vacation since we didn't get a parade," Howard wrote in a Saturday post on X.
James and several former Cavs teammates including Kevin Love and J.R. Smith met up in the United Kingdom for golf and wine to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of their championship victory over the Golden State Warriors.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer eventually helped the Lakers hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy in 2020, but the team didn't receive a traditional parade afterwards due to health and safety concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While Howard's days as an eight-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year were in the rearview mirror by the time he joined Los Angeles in 2019, he still served as a key piece of its frontcourt rotation.
He averaged 7.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 18.9 minutes per game while shooting 72.9 percent from the field throughout his 2019-20 campaign.
Howard also started in seven contests during the Lakers' 2020 playoff run that ended with a championship.
