Travis Hunter Used 'Top-of-the-Line Software' in Jaguars' Virtual Meeting Room to Prep for 2026
Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback and wide receiver Travis Hunter has heavily utilized virtual reality technology during his preparations for the 2026 NFL regular season.
Jeff Howe of The Athletic highlighted Hunter's unique methods, writing, "[Jaguars head coach Liam] Coen ordered the construction of a virtual meeting room over the offseason, knocking down a wall and installing top-of-the-line software to aid the team's mental reps. According to those around the Jaguars, Hunter has utilized the room more than anyone, and it's not particularly close. He can walk into the room, listen to the defensive play call, move to his spot within the formation, watch the offense virtually line up and then handle the necessary checks and communication assignments from there."

Selected second overall in the 2025 NFL draft after winning the Heisman Trophy at Colorado, Hunter arrived in Jacksonville with hopes of him being a difference maker on both sides of the ball.
Hunter's rookie campaign was cut short by a knee injury, though, limiting him to only seven games.
He has worked his way back and should be good to go for the start of the regular season, however, as he has been participating heavily in practice for the past few weeks.
Coen has liked what he has seen out of Hunter during the lead up to the Jags' Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 13, telling Howe, "He's done so much work in the virtual meeting rooms, walkthroughs, [traditional] meeting room. That's been a huge part of his growth and maturation throughout this training camp. He's put in a lot of time and built his body back up in a physical way, especially his upper half. Just getting him playing confident, to really go out and play. He hasn't played football in a long time, so we're really in that ramp-up process."
Although Hunter played 66.7 percent of the offensive snaps compared to 35.9 percent of the defensive snaps last season, all signs point toward him being a bigger contributor at corner than wideout in 2026.
Back in April, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Hunter would primarily be a cornerback and only a part-time wide receiver during his second season:
Coen seemed to confirm as much this week, telling reporters that Hunter is the Jags' "3A, 3B receiver right now." Meanwhile, Hunter is listed as a starting cornerback on the Jaguars' depth chart.
Per Howe, Hunter is "preparing to serve as the team's No. 1 cornerback," although defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile's scheme figures to mostly keep him on one side of the field rather than having him shadow a certain receiver.
