Lane Kiffin, LSU Cap Off Epic 10-Day Recruiting Stint with Chris Whitehead, Trey Martin Commitments

In just over a week, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin has revamped his 2027 recruiting class with a slew of top prospects.

Hayes Fawcett of On3.com pointed out that after landing commitments from edge rusher Chris Whitehead and running back Trey Martin, LSU has secured nine recruits from the class of 2027 in the last 10 days:

After coaching at Ole Miss for nearly six years, Kiffin was hired by LSU in November to replace Brian Kelly, who went 34-14 in three-plus seasons with the program.

The Tigers reportedly gave Kiffin a seven-year deal with an annual starting salary of $13 million and the potential for bonuses, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in all of college football.

Kiffin wasted little time in showing why he's worth such a lofty contract, as LSU's 2027 recruiting class now includes 10 prospects rated as 4-star recruits or better.

One of the headliners of the Tigers' 2027 commits is tight end Ahmad Hudson, who will try to pull off a rare feat by playing both football and basketball in college.

"I love both sports equally, I could never pick one as my favorite," Hudson told ESPN's Jason Jordan. "Basketball helps me so much with my footwork, getting off the line with my routes and when I have to block smaller guys and defensive linemen. Football helps me be the toughest player on the basketball court at all times."

It's clear that Kiffin is searching far and wide for talented players who could help LSU return to contention for the College Football Playoff, and this recent 10-day stretch showed how effective he can be in landing the prospects he desires.
