Giancarlo Stanton Injury Update, Latest News on Yankees Star's Status and Return Timeline
Giancarlo Stanton hasn't played since late April, and the New York Yankees star could be looking at even more missed time.
Stanton said Tuesday that he reinjured his calf running bases. He had planned to return to action on Wednesday, but said he now plans to have a "light week" and will reevaluate next week.

Stanton initially suffered a low-grade right calf strain on April 24 and landed on the injured list a few days later. Things looked positive in late May, when manager Aaron Boone said he was close to ramping up.
"I think he wants it fully clear, and I think we got enough news today that allows us to take that step to hopefully the running goes in line with how he's feeling, and we can start to ramp up," Boone said.
In early June, Boone said Stanton was able to take live batting practice and had increased mobility.
However, things took a turn for the worse last week. Boone told reporters that Stanton had tweaked his calf while running bases and could undergo new imaging on the injury.
"He felt a little something in there a day or two ago, so that's kind of slowed him down," Boone said. "I expected him back early in this homestand. That's in jeopardy now."
Injuries have unfortunately become a regular occurrence for the 36-year-old Stanton, especially lower-body ailments. He played just 77 games a year ago and has played 114 games or fewer in each of the last five seasons. He hasn't played more than 150 games since his first year in New York in 2018.
Before his latest injury, Stanton was slashing .256/.302/.422 with three home runs and 14 RBI.
Luckily for the Bronx Bombers, they've been able to stay afloat with the big bat of Stanton. New York is in first place in the AL East at 44-27.
