Qatar 1, Switzerland 1
Switzerland dominated possession for most of Saturday's opening World Cup matchup before conceding a late tying goal to Qatar.
The Swiss team got an early penalty after Qatari goalkeeper Mahmud Abunada fouled Switzerland's Remo Freuler. Breel Embolo scored on the penalty to give Switzerland the lead.
Switzerland controlled the ball for the majority of the match, finishing with the edge in both possession (68 percent to 32 percent) and shots (26 to 7).
It was Qatar that broke through last as Boualem Khoukhi headed in his country's second World Cup goal during stoppage time.
Switzerland resumes action Thursday against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Los Angeles, while Qatar plays Canada the same day in Vancouver.
Brazil 1, Morocco 1
Ismael Saibariย opened the scoring for Morocco with a 21st minute goal after a fantastic Brahim Dรญaz through ball.
Vinรญcius Jรบnior answered in the 32nd minute after a fantastic effort. Bruno Guimarรฃes earned the assist.
Brazil held possession 51.2 percent of the match and had five shots on goal (13 shot attempts overall). Morocco held possession 48.8 percent of the time and took three shots on goal (14 shot attempts).
Both teams will play next on Friday.
Morocco will play Scotland at 6 p.m. in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Brazil will then face Haiti at 8:30 p.m. ET in Philadelphia.
Scotland 1, Haiti 0
John McGinn scored Scotland's first World Cup goal in 28 years, and that tally was good enough for three points and a place atop the Group C table.
Haiti had 15 shot attempts to Scotland's nine, and both teams shot the ball twice on goal. Haiti also possessed the ball 53.8 percent of the time (vs. Scotland at 46.2 percent).
In the end, Scotland got the win and is off to a great start in search of its first-ever advancement to the World Cup knockout round.
