Jalen Brunson Hails 'Superstar' OG Anunoby in Video After Knicks' Historic NBA Finals Comeback
OG Anunoby has never been named to an All-Star team or been on an MVP ballot, but his place in NBA history was cemented when he made two of the most important plays in New York Knicks history to cap off their 29-point comeback against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the Finals.
Knicks star Jalen Brunson praised Anunoby as a "superstar" talent after his iconic performance on Wednesday.

Anunoby's two-play sequence in the final 15 seconds of the fourth quarter included a chase-down block of De'Aaron Fox's layup attempt that would have put the Spurs up by three, followed by a putback layup off a Brunson missed three to give the Knicks a 107-106 lead.
While those two plays are going to get all of the deserved attention, Anunoby was incredible leading up to that end-of-game sequence. He finished with 33 points on 10-of-15 shooting (7-of-9 from three), including 19 points in the second half.
After putting up 28 points in Game 4, Anunoby is one of five players in NBA history to score at least 60 points and make 10 threes over a two-game span in the Finals.
The Knicks pulled off the largest comeback in NBA Finals history to take a 3-1 series lead, with Anunoby helping to lead the charge on both ends of the floor.
Anunoby came to the Knicks in a trade with the Toronto Raptors on Dec. 23, 2023. The full trade saw Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, andĀ Malachi FlynnĀ going to New York in exchange for Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett and a second-round pick.
New York followed that up by giving Anunoby a five-year, $212.5 million contract in July 2024. He had his best season with the Knicks in 2025-26, making the All-Defensive second team and finishing 10th in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
If the Knicks can win one more game to capture their first NBA title since the 1972-73 season, Anunoby is on track to be named MVP with how he performed specifically in Game 4 but also throughout the entire series thus far.
Anunoby is averaging 23.8 points on 58.0 percent shooting, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game against the Spurs.
