World Cup 2026 Jerseys and Top Team Kits of the Tournament

Kristopher KnoxJun 9, 2026

Earlier this year, fans saw that, when it comes to international sports competition, few things rival the Olympics. In a matter of days, however, we'll all be reminded that the FIFA World Cup is one of them.

The World Cup has served as the background for some of football's most iconic moments, and the 2026 iteration should be no different.

Held every four years, the worldwide phenomenon serves as a stage for the best players in the sport, a test of team prowess, and a testament to national pride. More often than not, it also offers a parade of fantastically flavorful jerseys and kits.

The 2026 World Cup, slated to begin on Thursday, will be the first to feature 48 countries—up from the 32-team format that ran from 1998 through 2022. As one might expect, a few teams will use creative designs to help stand out from the pack.

Japan

Fans who love a clean, retro-style look—albeit with a modern twist—are likely to dig Japan's Adidas jerseys. The home kits come in Japanese blue with traditional three-stripe Adidas sleeves and a wave-esque front pattern that may conjure mental images of the sea.

Japan's away kits feature a pinstripe pattern reminiscent of a classic baseball jersey. The look feels very fitting, given the country's rise as a baseball powerhouse.

Japan didn't just unveil its World Cup kits, either; it hyped them heavily with a series of anime tie-in videos that have generated plenty of buzz heading into the nation's first game (versus the Netherlands on June 14).

Uruguay

Uruguay will also evoke images of more classic football kits with its Nike home combination. Soaked in Celeste blue with a collared and gold accents—a nod to Uruguay's two World Cup titles (1930, 1950—the look wouldn't be totally out of place a half-century ago.

While Uruguay's away kits are equally fantastic, they reside at the other end of the spectrum. The away jerseys feature a very modern look with a metallic pattern of indigo and electric orange.

A lot of care went into ensuring that Uruguay's looks were true to the nation's history, according to designer Gabriela Hearst.

"A lot of the little secrets, like the shields and emblems and everything in the inside, is for them to know, so they feel inner strength—or as we call in Uruguay, garra charrúa," Hearst said, per Savannah Sobrevilla of GQ.

Uruguay will open group play against Saudi Arabia on Monday, June 15.

Curaçao

Curaçao is a newcomer to the World Cup stage, having never qualified for the tournament before. However, the Blue Wave will arrive in Florida for its first match in style.

The Adidas home kit is a simple but clean combination of deep blue and yellow trim with a ripple pattern on the sleeves. It's certainly not an overly unique look, but it's unquestionably stylish.

While the Curaçao home kits may not get casual fans excited, the yellow away kits have been a massive hit. Inspired by the capital city of Willemstad, the jerseys feature a lemon-yellow base with highlights of pastel pink, turquoise, and orange.

According to Brooks Peck of The Athletic, Curaçao's away jerseys have been a top seller for Adidas:

"Having won over admirers on social media since its release in late March, the shirt is now sold out on Adidas' U.S. website in six of seven sizes offered (only small remains as of this writing). No other Adidas World Cup jersey appears to be in such limited supply on the site."

As Peck also noted, however, Curaçao is slated to wear its home kits for group play and may have to advance to compete in those wonderful tropical-tinged away jerseys. Curaçao will open against Germany on Sunday, June 14.

United States

Will the United States' kits be among the most classically attractive combinations in the tournament? Perhaps not, but the home and away jerseys both embody American pride and are a bit of a callback to Team USA's 1994 kits.

1994 was, of course, the last time that the United States hosted the World Cup. That year's kits included vertical red and white stripes on the home jerseys and blue denim print with white stars on the away jerseys.

Now co-hosting the Cup with Canada and Mexico, the U.S. Nike kits will carry a touch of that 1994 flavor. The away jerseys will have a more subtle star design—and no denim—while the home jerseys will have wavy horizontal stripes.

The United States will open group play against Paraguay on Friday.
