Jonathan Toews, who captained the Chicago Blackhawks to three Stanley Cups between 2010 and 2015, is reportedly planning to retire after 16 NHL seasons.

Toews is expected to announce his retirement Friday during a noon ET press conference held by the Winnipeg Jets, according to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta.

Toews spent last season with the Jets, where he made his comeback from the chronic health issues that sidelined him for the prior two seasons.

He scored 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points while playing in all 82 games of his final NHL season.

Prior to the health issues he started facing in 2020, Toews joined Patrick Kane in helping the Blackhawks become one of the most dominant NHL teams of the 2010's.

Toews was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2006 and named captain in 2008. Two years later, he led the team to its first Stanley Cup in 49 years.

He took home the 2010 Conn Smythe Trophy after leading all skaters that postseason with 22 assists in 22 playoff games.

Toews went on to lead the Blackhawks to two more championships in 2013 and 2015.

He was honored during that span as the NHL's top two-way forward with the 2013 Selke Trophy and took home the player-voted Mark Messier Leadership Award in 2015.

Toews recorded a dozen straight seasons with at least 20 goals and 50 points from 2007 to 2019 before health issues started to impact his career.

The Blackhawks captain sat out the entire 2020-21 campaign before returning for two more seasons in Chicago.

After playing his final game with the Hawks in April 2023, Toews spent two seasons away from professional hockey before making his comeback with the Jets.

Toews will leave the NHL having played in 15 seasons for the Blackhawks in addition to his final campaign with the Jets.

He will also depart as a member of the Triple Gold Club after winning with Team Canada at the 2007 World Championships and the 2010 and 2014 Olympics.

He finishes his NHL career having recorded 912 points (383 goals, 529 assists) in 1,149 regular-season games while adding 119 points (45 goals, 74 assists) in 137 career playoff contests.
