5-Star Edge Jaiden Bryant Flips Commitment From Lane Kiffin, LSU to Miami

Scott PolacekJun 3, 2026

While Lane Kiffin has enjoyed plenty of recruiting success since he arrived at LSU, he lost a key future playmaker Wednesday.

Hayes Fawcett of Rivals reported pass-rusher Jaiden Bryant flipped his commitment from the Tigers to Miami and plans on shutting down the rest of his recruitment. He was previously committed to LSU since January:

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Bryant is a 5-star prospect, the No. 20 overall player and the No. 2 edge rusher in the 2027 class.

EJ Holland of On 3 noted this flip came after Bryant's official visit to Miami.

"It went great," he said of the visit. "Some highlights from this weekend were spending time with some of the guys and some of the players already on the team. I just had an all-around great time. I appreciated the way the coaches treated me and my family. I felt love here. I felt wanted."

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal is known for his ability to develop players along the line of scrimmage. The Hurricanes also saw two edge rushers selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft in Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor.

Bryant could be the next in line in impressive pass-rushers.

Andrew Ivins of 247Sports highlighted his "twitch, power and a relentless motor" in addition to his ability to play against the run in a scouting report. Ivins noted the prospect "should be viewed as a potential impact player for a College Football Playoff hopeful that can force his way into the backfield and make stops."

Fortunately for LSU, Kiffin has still accumulated plenty of talent since arriving ahead of what will be his first season in 2026.

He landed the top-ranked transfer portal class for the 2026 cycle, per 247Sports, and has plenty of time to make up ground in the 2027 recruiting class despite the loss of Bryant.

As for Miami, it is now No. 3 in 247Sports' rankings for the 2027 recruiting cycle.
