Latest NBA Rumors on Giannis Trade, Jalen Duren Contract and 2026 Draft Plans

Erik BeastonMay 31, 2026

As the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs prepare to compete in the NBA Finals, one of the biggest stars in the sport continues to see his name in headlines surrounding a potential trade.

Find out the latest on Giannis Antetokounmpo, the contractual status of Jalen Duren, and draft plans for Cam Boozer with this collection of insider rumors.

Cavs Not Likely to Pursue Giannis

Milwaukee Bucks v Cleveland Cavaliers

Giannis Antetokounmpo is likely to attract plenty of trade interest this offseason. According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, you can count the Cleveland Cavaliers out of the race as they are not likely to pursue the former league MVP and Defensive Player of the Year.

They wrote, "Mobley, at 24, is regarded in Cleveland as the sort of player who could offer a legitimate bridge to a successful post-Mitchell future. The Cavaliers, remembering how hard life was after (LeBron) James walked away from the franchise โ€” twice โ€” are obviously reluctant to surrender Mobley and the staying power he is projected to represent unless it's a sure-thing trade," (h/t NBC Sports).

Mobley averaged 18.2 points, nine rebounds, 3.6 assists, and shot 54.6 percent from the field this past season. While his numbers pale in comparison to what Antetokounmpo accomplished in 2025-26 (27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 62.4 percent), he is still young and has plenty of time to blossom into a star of the future.

Giannis, on the other hand, is 31 and coming off a season in which he missed significant time due to injury.

It is also no certainty that he can come in and forge the on-court partnership with Donovan Mitchell that puts Cleveland over the hump and back into the NBA Finals, especially considering how underwhelming his last superstar pairing with Damian Lillard ultimately was.

Holding onto Mobley is the right call for an organization that has had its fair share of rebuilds and restructurings over the years and does not want to undergo another anytime soon.

Jalen Duren Contract Update

2 of 3
Detroit Pistons v Cleveland Cavaliers - Game Six

Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren had a breakout year in the 2025-26 season, averaging 19.5 points per game, 10.5 rebounds, two assists, and shooting 65 percent from the field.

Tim Bontemps of ESPN wrote, though, "A subpar playoff run, however, took some shine off Duren's breakthrough season and likely dented his potential earnings in the eyes of rival scouts and executives."

He added, "Duren is still likely to command a new contract approaching $40 million per year, a sign of his improvement, his importance to the roster and his relationship with Pistons superstar guard Cade Cunningham."

Duren struggled against Cleveland's Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen and was held to single-digit points in half of his 14 playoff games this postseason. He shrank enough when it mattered most that one East executive told Bomteps, "If he wants to get a max, they'll tell him to go get one.ย But he's Cade's guy, so they'll have to play it the right way."

The Pistons entered the postseason as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, so it is clear that Duren was a crucial part of the team's success. Whether the regular-season success and his friendship with the team's franchise star will be enough to earn him what he feels he is worth is the question.

Update on Cam Boozer's Draft Stock

2026 NBA Draft Combine

During an appearance on The Herd, Draft Express founder Jonathan Givony told Jason McIntyre (2:05) that teams drafting in the top two are giving Cam Boozer a hard look, "even if that may not be the public sentiment."

It is not surprising that the teams at the top of this year's draft, Washington and Utah, would be looking long and hard at Boozer. Not only does he have an NBA pedigree from his father, Carlos, but he was one of the best players in the nation this past season.

Boozer averaged the ninth-most points in the country with 22.5, was 13th in rebounds with 10.2, averaged 4.1 assists, and shot 55.6 from the field. He is an excellent passer, a smart playmaker, and a perimeter threat. He might be the most NBA-ready player in the draft.

He is not great offensively or defensively at the rim, which may cause some hesitation among top drafters, but his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses.

Do not be surprised to hear the Duke Blue Devils star's name called at the top of the draft on June 23.
