Karl-Anthony Towns Shouts Out Jeremy Lin in Video, Talks His Impact on Knicks Fandom
New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns grew up as a fan of his current team, so naturally, he was enthralled with the Linsanity period in February 2012, when guard Jeremy Lin came out of nowhere and dominated the NBA.
As the Knicks get ready for the NBA Finals, Towns shouted out Lin during his latest press conference and made mention of how much of an impact he had on him growing up.
Lin, of course, was a sensation in the winter of 2012. Over a nine-game period, Lin averaged 25.0 points, 9.2 assists and 2.2 steals. New York won its first seven matchups and went 8-1 overall. The Knicks needed someone to step up then as star Carmelo Anthony missed nearly all of that span with a strained right groin, and Lin got it done.
Lin starred at Harvard before going undrafted in 2010. He played 29 games for the Golden State Warriors in 2010-11 before taking the league by storm in 2012 with the Knicks.
He ended up carving out a nine-year NBA career with eight teams, averaging 11.6 PPG, 4.3 APG and 1.1 SPG. Still, his Linsanity run, which made him into an overnight sensation and landed him on two straight Sports Illustrated covers and one Time Magazine cover, will never be forgotten. Towns certainly doesn't, and now he and the Knicks are writing another great chapter in franchise history as they seek the team's first NBA title since 1973.
