5-Star Safety Kamarui Dorsey Makes Commitment After Shutting Down Recruitment amid TAMU Buzz
Five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey is reconfirming his commitment to join Texas A&M in 2027.
Dorsey is shutting down his recruitment ahead of his senior high school season, On3's Hayes Fawcett reported Saturday.
The 6-foot-3 safety out of Hampton, Georgia originally committed to join Texas A&M on Nov. 1.
He is listed as the No. 1 safety and No. 17 overall prospect on 247Sports composite rankings.
Dorsey also received offers from schools including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame, according to 247Sports.
He named Ohio State, Georgia and LSU as his top choices outside of Texas A&M during a March interview with Jeff Sentell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Drosey said at the time, however, that he was "really locked in on Texas A&M right now.
"I'm not taking any other visits right now. I always keep an open line of communication with Texas A&M," Dorsey told Sentell in March. "That's really the only school I'm looking at. I'm locked in with A&M."
Dorsey plays at both safety and wide receiver for Hampton. He was described by On3 scout Cody Bellaire as a "physically imposing, versatile safety prospect that plays with violence in the run game who has massive range as a middle of the field rover."
Bellaire reported that Dorsey "has the ability to walk in and compete as a heavy nickel early on at the next level that will eventually develop into a true three-dimensional defensive back that has the ability to play man, zone, and stop the run."
Dorsey is one of 13 blue-chip prospects committed to what 247Sports currently ranks as the top 2027 recruiting class in the country.
He is joined in the class by three other prospects ranked in the top 20 of the nation by 247Sports, including five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, five-star defensive lineman Zyron Forstall and four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry.
Other blue-chip commits in Mike Elko's 2027 recruiting class include offensive tackle Kennedy Brown, offensive tackle DeMarrion Johnson, quarterback Jayce Johnson, edge rusher Kaden McCarty, offensive tackle Kaeden Scott, safety JayQuan Snell, wide receiver Jayden Upshaw and defensive linemen Elijah Patmon and Myels Smith.
That class could get even stronger before the 2027 season kicks off in College Station. The Aggies are also reportedly frontrunners to recruit two five-star offensive linemen in Ismael Camara and Albert Simien.
