Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham Headline England's 2026 World Cup Roster, Who Are Biggest Snubs?

Three weeks away from the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, England has finalized the squad that will be representing the country on the game's biggest stage.

Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham will lead the 26-man squad, but they won't be joined by Cole Palmer, Harry Maguire and Phil Foden after head coach Thomas Tuchel left them off the final roster.

In leaving marquee names like Palmer and Foden off the roster, Tuchel didn't really elaborate on why he made those decisions beyond saying it was "difficult" and many players from the provisional 55-man roster "deserved" to make it but the numbers game made it impossible.

Kane will lead England into the World Cup for the third consecutive tournament. He was named team captain prior to the 2018 event, then put up six goals in six matches to help the Three Lions reach the semifinal.

After making his World Cup debut four years ago at the age of 19, Bellingham will be a seasoned veteran this time. The 22-year-old is coming off a La Liga campaign with Real Madrid that saw him tally five goals and four assists across 27 games.

One of the big roster questions for England was figuring out the depth at right back. Ben White suffered a knee injury on May 10 that will keep him out through the World Cup.

Tino Livramento and Reece James both made the cut, but their ability to make an impact will be tested after dealing with injuries. Livramento hasn't played for Newcastle United since April 18 due to a thigh injury. James returned to the pitch for Chelsea on May 9 after a nearly two-month absence due to another hamstring injury.

Tuchel opted to add Jarell Quansah to the mix with that group, ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold despite the latter having previous World Cup experience in 2022.

The Three Lions have finished in the top six in each of the last two World Cups, but they are still chasing their first championship since 1966.

England will start its 2026 journey in Group L alongside Croatia, Ghana and Panama. Its first match will be against Croatia at AT&T Stadium in Texas on June 17.
