Wolves to Be 'Aggressive' in NBA Free Agency, Julius Randle Backlash Addressed by Tim Connelly
After coming up short in the playoffs once again, the Minnesota Timberwolves have a pivotal offseason ahead of them.
The Wolves' president of basketball operations, Tim Connelly, knows Minnesota will need to make a splash in free agency to keep up with the competitive Western Conference.
"We know our competition is not going to sit still, and nor will we," Connelly told reporters. "If we mess up, we'll mess up loudly. We're going to try to be as aggressive as possible."
The Timberwolves earned the sixth seed in the West for a second consecutive season, reaching the Western Conference semifinals but losing to the San Antonio Spurs.
While he's not entirely to blame, Julius Randle's struggles hurt the Wolves tremendously in the postseason. Given the way he played, it's fair for fans to wonder about his future.
Connelly said that the loss to the Spurs was because of the team's struggles as a whole, not just Randle's.
"We don't win because of one player, lose because of one player. I think when we lost in the fashion we lost to San Antonio, they were clearly the better team, and we have to look at the collective, me included, the whole building," Connelly said. "What can we all do better to ensure that we don't see the same result next season?"
Randle is under contract next season and has a player option in 2027-28. It sounds like Connelly has no plans to move on from the veteran just yet, but then again, he made it clear Minnesota is going to do anything it can to improve this offseason.
