Jalen Brunson Ditching Social Media After Knicks Win vs. Cavs for Remainder of Series

Scott PolacekMay 20, 2026

New York Knicks fans probably loved watching highlights on social media of their team's dramatic 115-104 overtime comeback win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Tuesday's Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, but Jalen Brunson won't be doing the same.

After all, he said he's avoiding social media during playoff series as the Knicks battle for a championship.

"I've been shutting down social media throughout the series," he told reporters Wednesday. "Obviously, I think I've posted in between series. But I've been shutting it down and not opening it. Just focusing on what we need to do as a team, what I need to do individually. Just doing my best to have tunnel vision and stay focused."

Brunson is looking for the first title of his career, and following in the footsteps of someone like LeBron James is not a bad idea.

The King famously ditched social media during his playoff appearances in what he called "Zero Dark Thirty-23" mode:

Brunson didn't have a catchy nickname for his avoidance of social media, but he made it clear his focus is entirely on the court.

That focus was on full display Tuesday when he took over down the stretch after his team fell behind by 22 points with fewer than eight minutes. Brunson scored 15 points in the last eight minutes of regulation, the final two of which forced overtime, and was completely unstoppable.

New York made a point of setting up screens to get him matched up on James Harden, and he took full advantage by consistently beating the Cavaliers guard off the dribble and with his jumper.

And when Cleveland started to double him, he moved the ball and helped create massive three-pointers from Mikal Bridges and Landry Shamet.

There was little doubt the Knicks would win by the time the game reached overtime, but Brunson is already focused on Thursday's Game 2 instead of reliving the highlights on social media.
