Australian Soccer Team Posts Photo of Massive Snake in Facility, Trolls Southampton Spying Scandal

A team from Australia's A-League soccer association used a visit from a snake as a chance to poke fun at a scandal involving Southampton FC.

In a post Wednesday on X, the Central Coast Mariners shared a video of a massive snake at their training ground, joking that it was "not a Southampton spy."

The post referenced Tuesday's decision by the English Football League to expel Southampton from the Championship play-off final after it was determined that Southampton spied on multiple opponents during the 2025-26 season.

According to ESPN's Tom Hamilton, Southampton had been set to face Hull City on Saturday with the winner earning promotion to the English Premier League next season.

Middlesbrough have been tabbed to replace Southampton in the match, but Southampton appealed the decision, and a final ruling is expected to be handed down in the coming days.
