Carmelo Anthony Explains Origin of Signature 'F--k Outta Here' Rebounding Yell in New Video
Basketball Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony finally revealed the origin behind a longtime trademark of his NBA career.
Anthony was always known as an aggressive rebounder for a small forward, and he made his presence felt even further when he began yelling, "I got it, f--k outta here!" as he snatched the ball from the air.

During a recent episode of the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Anthony revealed that his signature yell stemmed from his days with the Denver Nuggets playing alongside center Marcus Camby, who had made it known to his teammates that he was the primary rebounder. With others like Nene, Kenyon Martin and Chris Andersen in the frontcourt, Anthony didn't have many opportunities for the seven to nine rebounds he wanted. He also felt that fellow Hall of Famer Dwight Howard stole rebounds from him while they played together on the 2008 Olympics team.
Anthony said that by the time he arrived to the New York Knicks in 2011, he declared to his teammates that he would be crashing the glass. He averaged a career-high 8.1 boards with the Knicks in 2013-14.
The 41-year-old added that his signature yell provided some levity to the game, as his teammates and opponents alike would enjoy fighting with him for rebounds.
"Guys would start laughing when they go up for the rebound, so it became something," Anthony said. "That was my way of making rebounding fun."
