Perhaps because the Seattle Seahawks were largely defined by their defensive dominance during the 2025 season, the NFL got confused about which award Jaxon Smith-Njigba should have received for his performance.
Smith-Njigba shared a photo of his "NFL Defensive Player of the Year" trophy after he was named the league's 2025 Offensive Player of the Year in February.

Smith-Njigba was honored as Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 1,793 receiving yards on 119 receptions.
Despite the mix up, Smith-Njigba did add a lot of hardware to his trophy case that it can be hard to keep track of it all. The biggest prize was the Lombardi Trophy after the Seahawks' 29-13 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60.
