Jaylen Brown Says 'F--k Stephen A,' Calls Out ESPN Commentator in Viral Live Stream Video Amid Feud

Andrew PetersMay 18, 2026

The feud between Jaylen Brown and Stephen A. Smith continued on Sunday when the Boston Celtics star called out the ESPN personality once again.

After Smith questioned why Brown hadn't had his co-star, Jayson Tatum, on his livestream, Brown fired back.

"This is a narrative that he's creating. This isn't journalism." Brown said (h/t Awful Announcing). "This is him making his own opinion and formulizing it about what I have to say, on his platform. And this is why, respectfully, a lot of people say, 'F--k Stephen A.' Because this is the type of stuff he does, and then he doesn't recognize it."

Brown also called for Smith to retire, calling him the "face of clickbait media."

"Tell this motherf--ker to retire, because he's the face of clickbait media," Brown said. "And maybe with his retirement, we could spark a movement to get the rest of these motherf--kers out of here. Or to also have some type of, forget journalistic integrity, actual integrity in order to hold themselves accountable to the bulls--t takes they put out with no basis, no bias, no information. Just narrative. Just for the sake of just pushing a weak narrative. Just purely out of that."

The back and forth between Brown and Smith began shortly after the Celtics were knocked out of the playoffs by the Philadelphia 76ers. Brown took to his livestream to discuss the playoff loss, and called out the officials and Sixers star Joel Embiid during one of his streams.

Brown doubled down on his comments towards the officials after being fined $50,000 by the NBA, which led to Smith calling him out on First Take.

Brown responded on social media, sparking a series of back-and-forths between the two.

The Celtics have a big offseason ahead as they look to get back to championship-contending form with the duo of Brown and Tatum leading the way, but the first part of the offseason has been consumed by Brown and Smith's feud.

Whether Smith will have a response to Brown's latest comments remains to be seen.
