NBA Exec Predicts Caleb Wilson Can Be Best Player in '26 Draft Class over Dybantsa, Peterson, Boozer
North Carolina star Caleb Wilson isn't widely projected to be the first player off the board in next month's draft, but some think he has the chance to be the best player in this year's class.
The Athletic's Josh Robbins and David Aldridge recently polled NBA executives and scouts, asking what the Washington Wizards should do with the No. 1 pick. Wilson didn't receive any votes in the poll, but "several of the respondents said they can envision Wilson developing into the best player in the draft" over AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer.
Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman projects Wilson to be taken fourth overall by the Chicago Bulls behind Dybantsa, Peterson and Boozer.
Wilson had a tremendous freshman season at North Carolina, putting up 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. He unfortunately didn't get as much time to show what he can do, as injuries limited him to just 24 games.
With a 6'10", 215-pound frame and flashes of playmaking skills, it's easy to see why scouts think Wilson could go on to be a star in the NBA, even if he's a bit of a late developer compared to other players in this year's class.
