AJ Dybantsa's 'Worst Possible Outcome' Player Comp Revealed by NBA Exec in New Wizards Draft Rumors
The 2026 NBA draft is loaded with elite talent, which means there could be some debate about what the Washington Wizards should do with the No. 1 overall pick.
Yet one person in the NBA believes AJ Dybantsa's floor makes the case for the BYU star.
"Take AJ and sleep like a baby," one of the respondents told Josh Robbins and David Aldridge of The Athletic during a survey of 13 executives, scouts and front-office officials. Robbins and Aldridge noted the respondent explained Dybantsa's "worst possible outcome" would be a career similar to Andrew Wiggins.

Wiggins entered the league as the No. 1 overall pick of the 2014 NBA draft and has a championship, Rookie of the Year and All-Star appearance on his resume. While he may not have ever fully lived up to expectations, he has been a solid player throughout his career with averages of 18.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Washington may not be thrilled if that is the final outcome for Dybantsa, but it is quite the floor for someone with a franchise-cornerstone ceiling.
The response was part of a survey of 13 executives, scouts and front-office officials done by The Athletic with 10 of them willing to say who they believe Washington should select. Dybantsa led the way with seven votes, while Darryn Peterson (two) and Cameron Boozer (one) were also mentioned.
"Don't complicate it," another respondent said when advocating for Dybantsa.
B/R's Jonathan Wasserman seemed to agree with that line of thinking when he projected the Wizards to take the BYU star at No. 1 overall in his latest mock draft.
"There are believers that Darryn Peterson's game is being better suited for the NBA, or that Cameron Boozer's track record, shooting and intangibles aren't worth betting against, but AJ Dybantsa is still viewed as the safest choice at No. 1," Wasserman wrote.
Having a floor of being comparable to an NBA champion and All-Star in Wiggins is further proof of how safe the choice could be for the Wizards.
