Michael Jordan's Touching Gesture For Former High School Staffer Revealed in Social Media Post
Michael Jordan surprised a former staffer at his high school who is in hospice care in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Per Lower Cape Fear LifeCare on Facebook, the patient, identified as Ms. Etta, told the staff one "special bucket list wish" she had was to hug a former named Michael again as she was reflecting on some of her "favorite memories" while working at Laney High School.
"After several attempts to reach the former student, Wendy, a LifeCare social worker, received a call from an unknown number and heard, "Is this, Ms. Etta?"
"It was Michael Jordan.
"Wendy was home during this early evening, but she jumped in her car and drove to Ms. Etta's so they could FaceTime. They laughed, reminisced, picked at each other, and shared a moment that brought tears to everyone in the room. A memory her family will carry with them forever."
Lower Cape Fear LifeCare noted that Ms. Etta worked as a transportation coordinator at Laney High.
Jordan attended Laney High School from 1978 to '81. He infamously didn't make the varsity basketball team during his sophomore season and had to play on the junior varsity squad before getting put on the varsity squad as a junior.
The Chicago Bulls legend has maintained a strong relationship with his high school over the years, including a $1.1 million donation in 2019.
