New Warriors Rumors Reveal Stance on Trading No. 11 NBA Draft Pick amid Giannis Buzz

Zach BacharMay 14, 2026

The Golden State Warriors would prefer to keep the No. 11 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft despite a potential pursuit of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo on the trade market, according to ESPN's Marc J. Spears.

"The Warriors have that 11th pick and people wondering can they get in the Giannis mix," Spears reported Thursday on NBA Today. "From what I'm being told today from several people, the Warriors like to keep that pick."

ESPN's Shams Charania previously reported the Bucks were "open for business" on trade calls for Antetokounmpo and the Warriors were among multiple teams expected to negotiate a swap.

Golden State reportedly pursued him ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline as well, although a deal never materialized.

While Antetokounmpo is one of the NBA's most dominant two-way players when healthy, his 2025-26 campaign could cause the Warriors to hesitate offering the No. 11 pick in possible discussions with the Bucks.

The two-time MVP averaged 27.6 points and 9.8 rebounds to go along with 5.4 assists per game during the regular season, but appeared in a career-low 36 contests due to calf and knee injuries.

Still, it could be difficult for Golden State to surpass offers from opposing teams if its front office keeps the No. 11 selection off the table.

The Warriors can also trade first-round picks in 2028, 2030 and 2032 (h/t ESPN's Bobby Marks). They're able to offer pick swaps in each of the next seven years as well.

Golden State could end up changing its stance on the No. 11 choice, as the team is reportedly eyeing a large-scale move during the offseason.

The Warriors are looking to improve upon a 37-45 finish and return to contending in the Western Conference once again, as star point guard Stephen Curry turned 38 years old on March 14.
