Warriors GM Talks New Steve Kerr Contract, Calls HC 'One of the Best Ever'
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr signed a two-year deal last week that will keep him under contract with the team through 2026-27.
On Wednesday, ESPN's Bobby Marks asked Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. about the deal during the NBA Scouting Combine, and he provided this response (49-second mark).

"Yeah, I think that was the first order of business for us, and we're thrilled to have Steve back. The greatest coach in franchise history and one of the best ever, so for me personally, a great partner, he's best for our players and our organization, our fans. So we're excited about it."
The Warriors went 37-45 this past season to finish 10th in the Western Conference. They beat the Los Angeles Clippers 126-121 in the play-in tournament but lost to the Phoenix Suns 111-96 to miss the playoffs entirely.
It was a disappointing result for a team that showed potential last year with the trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green leading the way. Unfortunately, Butler suffered a torn ACL in January that ended his season. Curry dealt with runner's knee and played just 43 games. Only two Warriors played 70 or more games (Brandon Podziemski and Gary Payton Jr.).
Golden State has a lot to figure out, especially with Curry, Green and Butler's contracts all expiring after the 2026-27 season.
However, the Warriors know that Kerr, who helped lead Golden State to championships in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, will be on the sidelines as they look to bounce back.
