Darius Acuff Jr. Sets Lofty Goal for NBA Career, Reveals He Met With East Team Ahead of 2026 Draft
Arkansas point guard Darius Acuff Jr. is not short on confidence, and he's been beaming with poise throughout the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago this week.
While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Acuff was asked what role he sees for himself in the NBA, and the 19-year-old set a lofty expectation.
"Definitely a superstar point guard for sure," Acuff confidently responded.
Acuff also told reporters that he's met with the Brooklyn Nets, who own the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NBA draft. B/R's Jonathan Wasserman predicted in his latest mock draft that the Nets would select the promising young floor general.
"Perceptions of Acuff have shifted over the season's final two months, when he averaged 27.8 points and 6.7 assists while consistently carrying Arkansas during important stretches," Wasserman stated. "With diverse, accurate shotmaking, advantage-creating handles and quickness, finishing craft and convincing playmaking IQ, he's poked enough holes in the belief that limited size, athleticism and defensive resistance cap his ceiling."
It's clear that Acuff isn't worried about his ceiling being capped, and he will certainly be motivated to prove that he will be the best player to emerge from the talented 2026 draft class.
