Dillon Brooks Sounds Off on LeBron James' NBA Future Amid Retirement Buzz Around Lakers Star
One of LeBron James' biggest irritants on the court isn't expecting the Los Angeles Lakers star to hang up his sneakers this summer.
Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks told Yahoo Sports' Kelly Iko he thinks James will keep playing into 2026-27.
"I don't think it's his last year," he said. "I think he got one more in him. I watched him when I was in the NBA, when I was a kid in high school. He's got a phenomenal career and battled everybody and done it at a high level throughout. It's been amazing to watch overall, a pleasure to battle against him."
Brooks made sure to have a courtside seat for the Lakers' playoff game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He witnessed Los Angeles' season come to an end with a 115-110 loss.
The veteran wing only had time to take in the spectacle because his team got swept by OKC a round earlier, but you have to repect the commitment to the bit.
More than anything, his comments about James reflect how Brooks' villain role is just that.
The 30-year-old never turns down an opportunity to goad LeBron and play some mind games. A respect nevertheless exists. Brooks can recognize King James' talent and the legacy he'll leave behind.
Once James does walk away, whenever that is, he'll have to find a new No. 1 target.
