Jaylen Brown Reacts to Carmelo Anthony Video, 'Streaming Is the New Press Conference'
Jaylen Brown has made some headlines with livestreams ever since the Boston Celtics lost their first-round playoff series to the Philadelphia 76ers, and a Hall of Famer is on his side when it comes to continuing those streams.
"Why give a press conference to a company when I'm my own IP," Carmelo Anthony said on 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony (27-minute mark). "I can go do my own press conference. Streaming is the new press conference."
Brown responded to the comments:
The Celtics star turned heads with various livestreams when he said this past season was the "favorite season" of his career. Those comments were particularly notable since he has a championship and an NBA Finals MVP on his resume.
What's more, fellow star Jayson Tatum was injured for the majority of the season, which gave Brown a bigger role from an individual perspective.
Yet he explained that Tatum's ability to bounce back and return to the floor while the rest of his teammates exceeded expectations contributed to his enjoyment of the 2025-26 campaign.
Brown also criticized the officiating from the series loss to the 76ers, which drew a $50,000 fine from the NBA. He said the fine was "worth it" and explained that he is "moving on."
Another situation unfolded when Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady said on his Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady podcast there is "frustration" from Brown toward the Celtics. Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens told reporters, "He has not expressed those frustrations to me."
That drew another response from Brown:
It is clear Brown doesn't plan on stopping these livestreams if his reaction to Anthony's comments are any indication. That means fans will continue to get a direct line into his thoughts on various topics, even when the Celtics are no longer in the playoffs.
