New Warriors Trade Rumors Link Kawhi Leonard After NBA Draft Lottery and Steve Kerr's Contract

Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard could be a target for the Golden State Warriors on the trade market, with the team reportedly planning to take an aggressive approach to the offseason.

Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor reported Sunday that "league sources expect the Warriors to be aggressive in pursuing a star player via trade this summer" after previously attempting to land Leonard ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

O'Connor noted that the Clippers might be more willing to listen to offers after receiving the No. 5 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft following Sunday's lottery results.

Golden State is looking to improve upon a 37-45 finish during the 2025-26 season and build around star point guard Stephen Curry, who turned 38 years old on March 14.

The Warriors potentially pushing to acquire Leonard would be understandable, as the seven-time All-Star is coming off a strong 2025-26 campaign and should fit well alongside Curry.

In 65 games during the regular season, Leonard averaged a career-high 27.9 points to go along with 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game. He shot 50.5 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from behind the arc.

The Clippers posted a plus-7.5 net rating with Leonard on the floor, which dropped to minus-6.3 net rating with him off (via NBA.com).

If Los Angeles decides to field offers for him over the summer, Golden State may be a landing spot.
