New NBA Rumors Reveal Warriors Plans to Upgrade Roster Around Steph Curry After Steve Kerr Contract
The Golden State Warriors will reportedly focus on building around Stephen Curry during the offseason after agreeing to a new contract with head coach Steve Kerr.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Ramona Shelburne and Anthony Slater, Golden State's front office "intends to be aggressive in rearranging the roster" surrounding Curry.
The two-time MVP is also expected to have extension conversations with the Warriors this summer, per Charania, Shelburne and Slater.

Kerr agreed to a new two-year contract with Golden State on Saturday.
The deal will keep him as the highest-paid head coach in the NBA, viaย Charania.
As for Curry, he's currently set toย earnย $62.6 million during the 2026-27 season before becoming a free agent next year.
The Warriors are coming off a disappointing 2025-26 campaign, finishing with a 37-45 record and missing the playoffs after failing to advance beyond the play-in tournament.
It's worth noting that Golden State was hit hard by injuries, as Curry only appeared in 43 games while dealing with aย right knee issue.
Warriors forward Jimmy Butler also suffered a season-endingย torn ACLย while Kristaps Porziลฤฃis, the team's top acquisition at the trade deadline, only played in 15 games following the swap as he managed anย illness.
Still, it's understandable for Golden State to be active during the offseason and look to build a contending roster around their 38-year-old star point guard.
The Warriors wereย reportedlyย among the teams interested in Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline and could revisit negotiations in the summer.
Golden State would "still love nothing more than to bring Antetokounmpo to town" and "sign him to a long-term extension to play alongside Steph Curry in his golden years," according toย Sam Amick and Eric Nehmย of The Athletic.
An extension for Curry may be on the horizon as well.
