NBA Playoff Bracket 2026, Updated Picture, Schedule After May 9

The No. 1 seeds in the Eastern and Western Conferences were both in action during the second round of the 2026 NBA playoffs on Saturday.

The Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder both looked to build upon their 2-0 series leads over the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, respectively.

Here's a look at how Saturday's games unfolded as well as the upcoming playoff schedule.

Saturday Highlights

Cavaliers 116, Pistons 109

The Pistons held a 12-5 edge at the beginning of the first quarter, but the Cavaliers quickly found their rhythm on offense and jumped in front to lead 32-30 heading into the second.

Cleveland continued to maintain a 45-40 advantage with just under five minutes left in the second quarter before closing the period on a 19-8 run to lead by 16 points at halftime.

Detroit started to gain momentum in the third quarter, outscoring the Cavaliers 33-19 in 12 minutes of game time.

Cleveland only led 83-81 entering the fourth.

Both teams battled down the stretch of the game, as the score was tied at 104 with three minutes left.

A steal and subsequent layup from Cavs sharpshooter Max Strus gave his team some more breathing room before James Harden scored seven consecutive points for Cleveland, securing the win.

Harden finished with 19 points and seven assists, while Donovan Mitchell scored a game-high 35 points on 13-of-24 shooting. Mitchell also pulled down 10 rebounds.

Thunder 131, Lakers 108

The second matchup of the day didn't seem as if it would become one-sided at first, as Oklahoma City held a 31-25 lead at the end of the opening quarter before the Lakers came back to tie the game at 44 midway through the second.

Los Angeles also took a 59-57 advantage at the break following a dunk from Deandre Ayton just before the end of the first half.

Oklahoma City started the third quarter on a 21-6 run and never looked back, maintaining a double-digit edge for the remainder of the game.

The Thunder led by as many as 27 points in the second half as they cruised to the win.

Oklahoma City put together an efficient offensive performance, racking up 31 assists compared to 10 turnovers as a team. The Thunder also finished the game with 56.4/44.7/80.0 overall shooting splits.

As for the Lakers, they're now on the brink of elimination.
