Wemby Scores 39, Spurs Beat Anthony Edwards, Wolves in Game 3 as NBA Fans React to Win

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs defeated Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-108 in Game 3 on Friday, taking a 2-1 series lead in their second-round NBA playoff matchup.

Wembanyama delivered a dominant performance, finishing with a series-high 39 points on 72 percent shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. He added 15 rebounds for a double-double and five blocks as the Spurs moved closer to a spot in the Western Conference finals.

Four of five starters reached double figures, with De'Aaron Fox adding 17 points, Devin Vassell chipping in 13 points and Stephon Castle recording a double-double with 13 points and 12 assists.

The Spurs were able to overcome a standout performance from Edwards, who finished with 32 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Naz Reid added 18 points off the bench, and Rudy Gobert chipped in 13 points.

In their return to the playoffs for the first time since 2019, the Spurs stole Game 2 on the road to take a 2-1 series lead after defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 4-1 in the first round.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves, now trailing in the series, are riding a six-season playoff streak and will look to return to the Western Conference finals for a third straight year.

The winner of No. 2  San Antonio Spurs and No. 6 Minnesota Timberwolves will face the victor of the No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder and No. 4 Los Angeles Lakers in the Conference Finals.

San Antonio will host Game 4 on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. E.T.
