2026 World Cup Final Ticket Prices Triple, How Much Does It Cost to See Championship Match?

$32,970.

That's the amount of money it now takes a person to buy a "Category 1" ticket for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Per ESPN News Services, the ticket price has basically tripled from what once was.

"FIFA previously had a high price of $10,990 for category 1 at the final," ESPN wrote. "However, that ticket was now available Thursday night only as wheelchair and easy access amenity category 1."

Simply put, $32,970 is an eye-popping and mouth-opening figure. For that price, you can buy a nice car, like a base model Kia Sorento with some money left over for a few tanks of gas.

There are five FIFA World Cup 2026 ticket categories, ranging from "Category 1" to "Category 4" alongside an accessible seating area to accommodate people with disabilities.

Category 1, by definition, features "the highest-priced seats, located primarily in the lower tier."

The World Cup ticket prices are awfully high outside the Category 1 tickets in the final. FIFA president Gianni Infantino provided reasoning for the high prices at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills, California, per ESPN News Services.

"We have to look at the market. We are in a market in which entertainment is the most developed in the world, so we have to apply market rates. In the U.S., it is permitted to resell tickets, as well, so if you were to sell tickets at the price, which is too low, these tickets will be resold at a much higher price. And as a matter of fact, even though some people are saying that the ticket prices we have are high, they still end up on the resale market at an even higher price, more than double of our price."

Ultimately, it's going to be very difficult for some fans to watch the matches live. As for the tournament itself, the proceedings begin on June 11, when Mexico plays South Africa in Mexico City.
