Cade Cunningham, Pistons Beat Donovan Mitchell, Cavs as NBA Fans React to 2-0 Series Lead
Make it five in a row for the Detroit Pistons.
Since going down 3-1 to the Orlando Magic in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs the Pistons haven't lost, including Thursday's 107-97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers that gave Detroit a 2-0 lead in the series.
It was truly a team effort, with five players notching double-digit points, led by Cade Cunningham's double-double (25 points, 10 assists) and Tobias Harris' 21 points.
That spoiled a fantastic game from Donovan Mitchell, who managed 31 points. It was a tougher night for James Harden, who shot just 3-of-13 from the field, had four turnovers, was minus-11 and only scored 10 points.
But the story was Detroit, who remained red hot and took a commanding lead in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Fans and pundits praised Cunningham and the overall team effort:
The Pistons just played solid basketball all around. They shot 49 from the field (39-of-80) and 50 percent from three (14-of-28). They had 21 assists to 10 turnovers. They had nine steals and won the rebounding battle (42-36).
The Cavaliers, meanwhile, shot just 7-of-32 from three (22 percent).
The old saying goes that a series doesn't truly begin until a team wins on the road. Detroit will try to get things started in Game 3 on Saturday in Cleveland (3 p.m. ET, NBC) and continue its win streak.
