Thursday Highlights
Pistons 107, Cavaliers 97
Cade Cunningham's 25-point (12 points in fourth quarter), 10-assist outing led the Pistons to a 107-97 home win and a 2-0 series lead.
Detroit made 14-of-28 three-pointers to propel itself to victory. Duncan Robinson hit 5-of-9 threes to lead the Pistons from beyond the arc en route to 17 points.
Tobias Harris added 21 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Daniss Jenkins continued his tremendous play off the bench with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell led all scorers with 31 points. Center Jarrett Allen added 22 points.
However, Cleveland was ice cold from the three-point line, making just 7-of-29 from deep, and that proved to be the difference.
This has been a rough series for James Harden, who scored just 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting (0-of-4 from three), two days after committing seven turnovers in Game 1.
Evan Mobley did well defensively (three blocks, three steals), but he was quiet elsewhere with just nine points and one rebound.
Thunder 125, Lakers 107
Chet Holmgren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 22 points apiece and Ajay Mitchell added 20 to lead the defending NBA champions to a 125-107 home win.
Jared McCain dropped 18 points (4-of-5 from three-point range) in 18 minutes off the bench for OKC, which shot 56 percent from the field.
Austin Reaves scored 31 points for the Lakers, which played without Luka Donฤiฤ as he continues to rehab from a Grade 2 left hamstring strain. LeBron James scored 23 points alongside six assists and three steals, and Rui Hachimura added 16 points.
The Lakers appeared to have an opening early in the third quarter when Gilgeous-Alexander went to the bench with foul trouble after committing his fourth personal, which was upgraded to a flagrant 1. L.A. went up 66-61 after Reaves' two free throws.
SGA sat the remainder of the third quarter, but it didn't matter as OKC went on a 32-14 run to take a 93-80 lead into the fourth.
The Lakers did fight back in the fourth and cut the deficit to five on two different occasions, including with 7:36 left, when James hit a two-pointer to slash OKC's edge to 99-94. However, Holmgren responded with a three to start a 12-1 run that kept the Lakers at bay.
