Hunter Shelton of Yahoo Sports noted the Hurricanes joined Baylor and Missouri State as the programs who have started recruiting the running back, wide receiver and defensive back.

Peterson Jr. is a member of the 2030 recruiting class, so he does not yet have a star rating on 247Sports. There will surely be plenty of additional schools who start to recruit him in the coming years, especially as he generates attention as the son of former NFL running back Adrian Peterson.

And those are quite the shoes to fill.

The elder Peterson was a three-year star at Oklahoma who finished second in Heisman Trophy voting as an All-American during the 2004 campaign. He ran for 1,925 yards and 15 touchdowns, which was just a sign of what was to come at the NFL level.

Peterson played from 2007 through 2021 for the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks.

His resume included the 2012 league MVP, the 2007 Offensive Rookie of the Year, seven Pro Bowl nods, four First-Team All-Pro selections and eight seasons with more than 1,000 rushing yards, including in his MVP year when he ran for 2,097.

As a result, he was named to the Hall of Fame All-2010s Team and is remembered as one of the best running backs of his generation.

Now his son will look to make his own mark as a high-profile college recruit.
