James Harden Takes Blame for Cavs' Game 1 Loss to Pistons in NBA Playoffs, Cites Turnovers
James Harden played well for the most part in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, but his seven turnovers were costly as the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Detroit Pistons.
After the 111-101 loss, Harden addressed his turnovers, saying he had "way too many."
"You look within first," Harden told reporters. "Look at my turnovers, and a lot of them are just on me and nothing they did. It was way too many. If I had to put my print on one thing in the game, that's the game right there ... Like we talked about last series. If you get a shot on glass, even half of that, and it's a different ballgame. For me, I got to be better. I will be better, not turning the basketball over and getting shots up. It gives our defense a chance to get back and be set. Other than that, we played a pretty solid game."

Harden wasn't the only one who struggled to take care of the ball, as Donovan Mitchell turned it over three times, and Dennis Schroder had four turnovers off the bench. Cleveland lost the ball 19 times total.
It was far from the best night offensively for Detroit, as it shot 44 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep, but that was more than enough on a night when the Cavs couldn't hold onto the basketball.
