The start of the second round of the playoffs continued on Tuesday, featuring a pair of Game 1 clashes.

The Detroit Pistons secured a 111-101 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers to open their second-round series, while the Oklahoma City Thunder took down the Los Angeles Lakers by the final score of 108-90

Here's a look at Tuesday's action as it unfolded to go along with the upcoming playoff schedule.

Tuesday Highlights

Pistons 111, Cavaliers 101

The Pistons immediately excelled to open the game, holding a 37-21 edge at the end of the first quarter.

Cleveland initially struggled to respond, as Detroit led by at least nine points throughout the entire second quarter and went up 59-46 at halftime.

The Cavs started to gain momentum in the third, cutting the deficit to 77-74 with just under two minutes left in the period before trailing by seven points entering the fourth quarter.

Cleveland stayed within striking distance throughout the final 12 minutes of game time, eventually tying the contest at 93-93 with five minutes remaining in the fourth.

The Pistons immediately went on a 10-3 run and the Cavs were never able to recover, though.

Cade Cunningham finished with 23 points and seven assists for Detroit, while Tobias Harris chipped in with 20 points and eight rebounds.

Thunder 108, Lakers 90

The Lakers started the matchup on a 7-0 run, with the Thunder eventually coming back to take a 31-26 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Oklahoma City eventually took a 52-42 advantage with roughly four minutes left in the second quarter and led 61-53 at the half.

Los Angeles pulled to within four points as just under seven minutes remained in the third, but the Thunder quickly responded with a 7-0 run.

The Lakers struggled against Oklahoma City's defense, scoring just 37 points in the second half. The Thunder cruised to the win in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 21 points.

Chet Holmgren stepped up for Oklahoma City, scoring a team-high 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds while blocking three shots. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting.

LeBron James recorded 27 points and six assists while shooting 12-of-17 from the field, but it wasn't enough for the Lakers to emerge victorious.
