Knicks 'Shot the S--t Out of the Ball' in Game 1 vs. 76ers, Paul George Says After Blowout Loss
The New York Knicks shot 63 percent from the field and 51.3 percent from three during a 137-98 win over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Or as Paul George put it, the Knicks "shot the s--t out of the ball."
"It was a tough one," Sixers head coach Nick Nurse added. "It was like, in-and-out [misses] for us, banked three for them. ... They had it going. They were really great tonight. They're a great team and they were really great tonight."
George, 36, was one of the few Sixers who played well on Monday night, finishing with 17 points (6-of-11 from the field) and three assists in 26 minutes before Nurse pulled the majority of the starters late in the third quarter.
That's how comprehensive the blowout was—no Sixers starters played the fourth quarter, as Nurse waived the white flag. For a Sixers team coming off a tough seven-game series and short turnaround against a rested Knicks team, Monday's result wasn't the biggest shock in the world.
But New York's blistering shooting was a touch surprising, and likely isn't sustainable. Still, the Sixers need to find a way to make life more difficult for Jalen Brunson and the Knicks on the offensive end, or this could be a very short series.
