Monday Highlights

Knicks 137, 76ers 98

The Knicks set the tone for the series with a dominant win in Game 1.

Star point guard Jalen Brunson led the way in the blowout win, posting 35 points in what was one of his best performances of the postseason so far. He did that all in just 31 minutes and got to relax in the fourth quarter.

A good chunk of his points came when he went on an 11-point run by himself to close out the first half.

OG Anunoby added 18 points in the win, while Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges each posted 17.

All five of Philadelphia's starters finished in double figures, but the Sixers didn't have quite enough to outlast the Knicks offense as they shot 63 percent from the field and 51 percent from deep.

The 76ers will need much more in Game 2 to take down a team that looks poised to make a Finals run.

Timberwolves 104, Spurs 102

Minnesota managed to steal Game 1 on the road despite a historic night from Victor Wembanyama.

The Defensive Player of the Year recorded 12 blocks, setting the record for the most blocks in a playoff game.

But Wembanyama's defensive success didn't follow him to the offensive end, as he finished with just 11 points.

After missing the final two games of the first round, Anthony Edwards made his return on Monday and played well off the bench, posting 18 points in 25 minutes. As he continues to reacclimate after the knee injury, Edwards should be due for a few big performances.

Julius Randle added 21 points and 15 boards, hitting some clutch shots late, while Jaden McDaniels and Terrance Shannon each posted 16.

The young Spurs team has title hopes, but they're going up against a team that has been to back-to-back Western Conference Finals. Minnesota won the first of what should be an exciting battle.
