Maurice Jones-Drew's Son Duece Commits to UCLA, Everything to Know About RB Recruit

Running back Duece Jones-Drew, the son of former star NFL running back Maurice Jones-Drew, announced his commitment to playing at his father's old college, UCLA.

"It feels good knowing that I have a spot at my dream school," Jones-Drew said, per Brandon Huffman of Rivals.

"The reason why I picked UCLA is the effect that it will have on me for the rest of my life," Jones-Drew added. "Being around winners is what I want to do."

Jones-Drew is a Class of 2027 3-star running back, per the latest 247Sports Composite list. He is ranked 59th among all running backs and 65th among all California prospects. The 5'8", 180-pound star plays for De La Salle High School in Concord, California. De La Salle is an historically dominant program, and it just went 12-1 last year en route to a No. 30 national ranking, per MaxPreps.

Andrew Ivins, 247Sports' director of scouting, called him a "mighty mite of a running back with NFL bloodlines and track speed," among other comments. He also said Jones-Drew "shifts gears with ease and has the agility to make defenders miss in tight quarters."

Jones-Drew, who also competes as a sprinter on the track-and-field team, had 83 carries for 463 yards (5.6 yards per attempt) and seven touchdowns on the ground, per MaxPreps. He also had 13 tackles on defense.

He had 11 offers, per 247Sports, including ones from Arizona, SMU, Utah and Cal.

Jones-Drew will join a UCLA team under new leadership with head coach Bob Chesney, who arrived after two seasons with James Madison, which went to the College Football Playoff last year.
