Lane Kiffin has not yet coached a game for LSU, but he is making quite the impact on the recruiting trail.
ESPN's Eli Lederman noted the Tigers landed a commitment from highly regarded tight end prospect Ahmad Hudson on Sunday.
Hudson chose LSU over Nebraska.

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, he is a 5-star prospect and the No. 18 overall player, No. 3 player from the state of Louisiana and top-ranked tight end in the 2027 recruiting class.
This is a major win for LSU for a number of reasons, but landing elite in-state talent cannot be overlooked. If the Tigers are going to return to the upper-echelon of college football like they are accustomed to after going a combined 16-10 the last two seasons, these are the types of recruiting battles they will need to win.
Lederman reported Hudson initially was going to visit with LSU, Nebraska, Texas A&M and USC but canceled his trips to the latter two as he narrowed his recruiting process.
That process ended with the Tigers landing someone who is talented enough to be a significant factor in their offense from the moment he steps on campus.
Gabe Brooks of 247Sports highlighted his combination of size and athleticism, which makes him a "matchup nightmare" as a tight end who stands over 6'6" tall "with ability to stretch the field and work the short-to-intermediate level."
He also can high-point passes like a wide receiver and is a "convicted blocker with immense potential."
With the addition of Hudson, LSU is off to a red-hot start in the 2027 recruiting class. It already landed commitments from 4-star prospects in Jaiden Bryant, Peyton Houston, Braylon Calais and Ah'Mari Stevens and now has a 5-star tight end highlighting the group.
Considering Kiffin also brought in 247Sports' top transfer-portal class for the 2026 cycle, the head coach will likely bring in a number of other impact playmakers before that 2027 group is finalized.
