Lakers' LeBron James Reveals 'Perfect Way' He, Bronny Would Have Made 1st NBA Assist to Each Other

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James' alley-oop to his son, Bronny, in Game 3 against the Houston Rockets last week fulfilled a major goal for the father-son duo.

ESPN's Dave McMenamin spoke to the elder James about Bronny and his first assists to one another, and the 41-year-old explained what would have made them perfect.

"I didn't have a perfect way of what that first assist would be to him. I would have loved for it to be some kind of fast-break lob to him or from him to me. That's the perfect way," James said. "But I didn't go into it saying, 'OK, I'm predetermining this.'"

James' first assist to Bronny came in a game against the Brooklyn Nets in March, and Bronny returned the favor during a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks earlier this month.

However, both of those moments paled in comparison to James' lob to Bronny for a reverse layup against the Rockets last Friday. It was the first father-son playoff alley-oop in NBA history.

James went on to praise his 21-year-old son for his growth over his young NBA career. Bronny has played key minutes during the postseason series against Houston amid injuries to star guards Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

"What's important to me is the fact that we can play meaningful minutes together. That's something I envisioned and hoped for, and because [of] his progression, [that's] the reason why we're doing that now," James said. "I just know that he is in so much of a better place now. I just know that he was even more confident in his shot, the one he just made, compared to the one he had against Minnesota in his first game."
