Goalie Punches Rival, Sparks Massive Brawl in Trending Video After Red Card in La Liga 2
La Liga 2's Real Zaragoza will be without starting goalkeeper Esteban Andrada for quite a while after he was given a second yellow card and ejection for pushing Huesca defender Jorge Pulido to the ground and following that up by running after Pulido and punching him in the face.
That set off a fracas on the pitch, with Zaragoza's Dani Tasende and Huesca goalkeeper Dani Jiménez both ejected as well. Jiménez also threw a punch in the resulting brawl, and both goalkeepers could be facing match bans as severe as 12 contests.
Andrada later apologized.
"The truth is that I am very sorry for what happened. It is not a good image for the club, for the fans and for a professional like I am, so I am very sorry," he said. "Throughout my career I have only had one expulsion in which I touched the ball with my hand outside the area. It was a borderline situation in which I went out of context and reacted in that way, but well, I am very sorry and I know that I would not do it again. I know that I am a public person, a professional with many years of career and I can only apologize to Pulido because we are colleagues and honestly it was an act of mine in which I disconnected at that moment. I am here for the consequences of La Liga or if you want me to go and explain it, I am available for it."
Both Huesca and Zaragoza are currently in the relegation zone for La Liga 2. Huesca won the pivotal and heated matchup between the sides, 1-0.
