Devin Booker Reacts to Perceived Lu Dort Trip in Suns' Loss to Thunder, Gives Update on Ankle Injury

Zach BacharApr 25, 2026

Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker discussed the apparent trip he received from Oklahoma City Thunder guard Lu Dort in Phoenix's Game 3 loss to Oklahoma City in the first round of the playoffs.

"I don't know if it was intentional or not," Booker told reporters after the game, via ESPN's Tim MacMahon. "I seen he stuck his leg out a little bit. He threw his hand up to say it was a foul, and it just wasn't granted."

Booker said his ankle was "fine" as well.

Suns head coach Jordan Ott also commented on the incident.

"I didn't see it live," Ott told reporters. "I thought I saw (Lu) raise his hand as a foul live and then I looked it quickly there on film. Whatever's the case was it a foul, was it not. He puts his hand up obviously indicating something occurred and then for your best player to be out in these types of games those are massive calls or swings especially in that time the third quarter while we're trying to keep the gap close."

In the third quarter of the game, Booker appeared to trip over Dort and entered the Suns' locker room. While he was eventually able to return, Oklahoma City still held on for the 121-109 victory.

Booker finished with 16 points, seven assists and four rebounds in 39 minutes on the floor. He shot 6-of-16 from the field and 2-of-6 from three-point territory.

At the time Booker left the game, Oklahoma City held a 67-60 lead. The Thunder narrowly extended their advantage to 71-63 before he returned.

With the win, Oklahoma City took a commanding 3-0 series lead over Phoenix.

Dort scored nine points and shot 3-of-8 from the field, including 3-of-7 from behind the arc. He also pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists.

Dort's physical defensive approach has helped him become a key piece of Oklahoma City's starting lineup, earning an All-Defensive First Team honor in 2025. It's also led to altercations with other players, though.

As for Booker, he was previously fined $35,000 by the NBA for "public criticism of the officiating" following the Suns' Game 2 loss to the Thunder.

While he appeared to avoid a serious injury on Saturday, Phoenix is still on the brink of elimination.
