Tech Sideline's Andy Bitter shared images of the Blacksburg fire department rescuing the skydiver. He was seen afterwards with his arm in a sling, according to Bitter.
Virginia Tech expressed "sincere appreciation to the first responders, event staff, and medical personnel for their swift, coordinated and professional response" to the incident.
The school issued an additional statement, via The Athletic's Devon Henderson:
"One of three parachutists was blown off course and got stuck on our stadium scoreboard. First responders from Virginia Tech and the Town of Blacksburg quickly responded and within 15 minutes had him safely on the ground. He was checked by medical (personnel) on site and was released. No serious injuries. Grateful for the rapid response and safe outcome."
The spring game got underway after about an hour delay following the skydiver's rescue. Virginia Tech fans will now get their first look at a new era of Hokies football under former Penn State coach James Franklin and quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer.
