5-Star Maxwell Hiller Commits to Florida, What You Should Know About No. 1-Ranked IOL in 2027 Class

5-star offensive line prospect Maxwell Hiller committed to Florida on Wednesday, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.com.

Hiller is listed as the No. 1 interior offensive lineman as well as the No. 5 overall player in the country as part of the 2027 recruiting class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

He received offers from schools including Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas A&M before choosing the Gators.

Hiller visited Florida during the school's Junior Day on Jan. 24.

His relationship with Gators head coach Jon Sumrall as well as new offensive line coach Phil Trautwein, who spent the past six seasons at Penn State, factored into his decision.

"The relationship I have with Coach (Phil) Trautwein goes back to eighth grade," Hiller said, per Steve Wiltfong of Rivals.com. "Coach Sumrall is a really good guy. I had a couple good meetings with him and he can help me accomplish my dreams as well."

"I feel like Florida is making a comeback and finding themselves as a program again," he added. "I think these next years Florida gonna be a real problem with this new staff."

Hiller is listed at 6'5" and 305 pounds, and he's coming off a dominant junior season at Coatesville High in Pennsylvania.

247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks discussed Hiller's prowess in the run game.

"One of the best pure run blockers in the 2027 recruiting cycle," Brooks wrote in his scouting report. "On-schedule traveler who flashes occasional punch as a puller and climber. Quick off the ball with purposeful movements and limited wasted motion."

Sumrall is entering his first season as Florida's head coach, looking to help the team bounce back from a disappointing 4-8 finish in 2025.
