Lane Kiffin Explains Having to Teach LSU Players Not to Fight at Practice in Video
LSU head coach Lane Kiffin explained that he needed to teach his players not to fight after several scuffles broke out during recent practices.
"We had no fights today and we had like six fights the other day," Kiffin told reporters (0:28 mark). "I had to teach them that we don't fight. When you come in, you really can't expect and assume anything is the way that I approach it. You've got to go back and teach everything from the beginning as if they don't know anything no matter where you are. Especially because there's so many coming from different places."

"I've talked to our coaches about that a lot," he added. "They wanna say, 'Well I assume they're supposed to know how to do this.' Well, don't assume that. Go back to the beginning of everything."
While physical altercations breaking out during offseason practices is hardly an uncommon occurrence, it's understandable that Kiffin wants his team to avoid fights after six occurred in one day.
He's entering his first season patrolling the sidelines for the Tigers, as they hired him in Dec. 2025.
Kiffin previously served as head coach at Ole Miss, helping the Rebels compile a 55-19 record during his tenure with the school.
Expectations are high for LSU heading into the 2026 season despite the team's 7-6 finish in 2025. The Tigers owned the No. 1 transfer class in the country during the 2026 cycle, per 247Sports' rankings.
LSU will open next season against Clemson on Sept. 5.
