Jalen Brunson, Martha Stewart Discuss Broken Toe at Knicks Game, How NBA Star Made Up for Injury

Andrew PetersMar 30, 2026

After Martha Stewart had her toe broken by Jalen Brunson while sitting courtside at a New York Knicks game against the Indiana Pacers last May, the star point guard hosted the celebrity chef on his podcast.

There were no hard feelings between the two, as Stewart said it wasn't Brunson's fault. Brunson also made it up to Stewart by FaceTiming her and sending her nephew a signed basketball.

"You didn't know. It's not your fault, it's my fault for wearing open-toe shoes to a basketball game," Stewart said (22:15 mark).

She also told Brunson that doctors assigned a fitting name to the type of break she had.

"They've named it the 'Stewart-Brunson fracture,'" she said. "I have an X-ray, I'm going to leave you a picture of it... it was actually a break, so anyways, it's better now."

Whether Stewart will be back on the sideline at Madison Square Garden remains to be seen, but if she does, Brunson will likely be mindful of where he steps, as Stewart will avoid wearing open-toed shoes.
