Jaden Ivey Waived by Bulls for Conduct Detrimental to Team
The Chicago Bulls officially waived guard Jaden Ivey on Monday, citing conduct detrimental to the team.
His exit comes after he posted multiple videos on social media, at one point claiming that NBA teams staging Pride Night was akin to celebrating "unrighteousness."
Head coach Billy Donovan spoke about the situation on Monday:
Ivey was already sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
Chicago acquired Ivey ahead of the 2026 NBA trade deadline. The Bulls offered him a fresh start following a four-year spell with the Detroit Pistons in which he failed to live up to his status as a top-five pick in the 2022 draft.
However, the 24-year-old only managed to make four appearances before getting benched and subsequently picking up the injury. His last game was a 124-105 loss to the Boston Celtics on Feb. 11.
Recent events may have accelerated Ivey's eventual departure from the Windy City. He was eligible for restricted free agency in the summer, but that required him to receive the $13.4 million qualifying offer. He also would've had a $30.3 million cap hold.
According to The Athletic's Mike Vorkunov, Ivey is still set to receive his full $10.1 million salary for this season despite being waived.
