Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić faces a one-game suspension after picking up his 16th technical foul of the season during a matchup with the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

Dončić and Nets forward Ziaire Williams were called for double technical fouls after a brief altercation in the third quarter of the contest.

The six-time All-Star will now miss Los Angeles' upcoming clash with the Washington Wizards on Monday if the technical isn't rescinded.

Dončić was previously called for his 16th technical foul of the season during a 105-104 win over the Orlando Magic on March 21, but it was later rescinded following a review by the NBA.

He'd become the second player in the league to reach 16 technicals if his latest one stands, as Phoenix Suns wing Dillon Brooks previously reached the 16-technical threshold on Feb. 11.

As for Dončić, he ranked No. 6 in the NBA in technical fouls last season before ranking No. 3 in both 2024 and 2023.

The Lakers are currently battling for playoff positioning in the Western Conference standings, holding the No. 3 spot in the West with a 47-26 record heading into Friday's action.

Dončić has put together a stellar year with Los Angeles, averaging a league-leading 33.6 points to go along with 8.3 assists, 7.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game across his first 61 appearances.
